Some exitement was caused yesterday afternoon at Greymouth when a covered lorry belonging tq Mr Neil Mouatt, of Barrytown, caught fire in Biaty’s Garage.i The burning lorry fas immediately pushed out into Tarapuhi Street, where strenous efforts were made to extinguish the flames. With the aid of a chemical extinguisher, sacks, water and sand this;was eventually accomplished, but not until the canvas cover on one side. had beeh burned off, the bodywork scorched, and one tyre blackened. The origin.of the fire is not clear, but at the time it broke, out one of the workmen was using a drill under the lorry, and it is surprised that a spark from the drill bruited a petrol leakage causing the understructure to catch alight. i ;
