FEEDING AMERICAN HORSES ~. ' NEW YORK,, August 22. AV. Elliott, who rode Phaiy Lap at Agua Caliente, lias arranged to remain in the United States for; at least another year. In a letter to a Melbourne friend, he gives the following points about American training methods:— “flard food aid oil—plenty of oil—is the basis of feeding the American racehorse,” says Elliott, “and they do not know what chaff is. Dry hay, green hay, corn, cod liver oil, or olive oil, and a very occasional bran mash, gives them plenty of condition, but they,do not hold it long. Road work is conspicuous by its absence, and .the general method of training is just sprinting.”
