The annual meeting of the Canterbury Education Board was held to-day, when there were present: Messrs G. W. Armi. tage (chairman), W. A. Banks,' S/ ®. Evison, G. Thanking the board for conferring the office upon him, he «aid it v-a» hi* aeeond term. While he would probably make mistakes, he could assure members that his rulings would be honest. He would do his best to keep up the high traditions of the men who had gone before him. Committees were elected as follows Appointments—Messrs Ev’-son (cliairman), Banks, Benstead, Baird, 'Smith and - Wild. Buildings—Messrs Thompson (chairman), Armitage, Hurley,- Preen and Spencer. , Agricultural, manual, and technical— Messrs Spencer (chairman), Armitage, Banks, Hurley, Preen, Smith and Wild. Normal—Messrs Banks (chairman), Baird, Hurley, Spencer, Thompson and (Baird.
The chairman and Mr Benstead were appointed to represent the board at the IrVaimataatai School- Jubi'.ee, the celebration of which is to begin in Timaru on Friday ’next.
