Coast forwards, led by Keffly, brought play back from their 25 to Auckland’s 25, where from a'scrum ‘Martyn broke away and in &'ruck Palmer- and another Auckland: forward were penali.ed for handling, but Deere’s attempt to goal from a good position struck the forwards on the mark. Auckland forwards kicked through, Scandrett running round to save, passing out, Gilbert picking up and passing to Martyn, who,’ instead of pasing back to Gilbert, was caught in possession. Berridge broke aw'ay and beat Lindbom, but his piss to Macindoe was forward.. Auckland were penalised and Martyn lined at the 25, Kelly bustling Pearson. Macindoe was caught in possession in front of Auckland’s goal, and Coast backs looked dangerous, but , Cdrtliwaite cleared l well. From a ruck at Auckland’s 25 Diedrich sent out a low paes to Gilbert, who picked up 'smartly to clapf on the pace and score hear the corner with two Auckland players on top of him. Pearson then broke away, passing to Wiklund,, who was tackled on the line. Gilbert punted high at halfway, and Kelly passed to Freitas, to Jamieson, Who made a dash, but was held up.
