ADDINGTON STOCK SALKS

CHRISTCHURCH, August 17. At Addington live stock market today, prices were rather low. There were 480 head of cattle yarded, mostly of splendid quality. About one-third' of the offering was from the North Island, and about 100 from the ’West Coast. The balance, were from Southland, and local lots. Good handy weights maintained; the rates ruling at the “Double” market. Extra heavy suits showed a decline of 10s per head. (A Show bullock fetched £l2 17s 6d, extra heavy bullocks £9 17s 6d to £lO T.s bd, prime heavy £9 2s 6d to £lO 2s 6d, prime handy £7 17s 6d to £2 ICs, medium £5 5s to £6 lfs, light tc £4 2s 6d. One show heifer fetched £ll is fid, prime ineavv £-6 7s 6d to £8 7s 6d, medium £5 6s to £6, light to £4 2s 6d; extra heavy cows sold to £9 17* •6d, prime £5 15s to £6 15s, medium £4 6s to £5 55,. inferior from £2 10s.. The fat hoggets yarded comprised, 800, mostly in backward condition. Values were unchanged, i One lot of spring, lambs offered realised 22s' 7d.

There was a full yarding of fat sheep, many being unfinished consignments. Heavy weights were easier. Good quality medium weights were selling on a better basis. The market showed a declining tendency. Only odd lots of store sheep were yarded. Best class ewes in lamb to Down, or Leicester rams met better competition.

Only two pens of store hoggets we:~ offered. ' Ewe hoggets sold to. 9s lie, wether hoggets to 8s 2d. ' There was a small offering of bgconers and porkers of mixed quality. The demand was firm. 'Small porkers sold ; 33s 6d to 3.1 a fid, medium 32s 6d tc ■ 37s 6d, heavier to 44s 6d. Choppers sold ifrprn !£2 10s to £4 18s fid, baeoners £2 12s fid to £2 17s 6d, heavy bnconers £3 to £3 10s 6d, extra heavy to £4 Is fid. Store pigs were firmer.
