Tliere was an interesting series of hockey games on Cass Squaie yesterday afternoon when a seven a-side tourney was held, arranged by the Hokitika Hockey Club.

The games were well contested generally white,in some cases the results were in doubt, to the finish. Specially was this the case in the second round game between Rover A. and Mawhera A. The teams were very evenly matched, and the game went the full time, without any score. M Some ten minutes further pllay resulted before a. force down against Mawhera gave Rovers the game. The final between Hokitika A. and Royer A. also provided excellent hockey hut Hokitika held the advantage and scored two goals, the, play travelling up and down the field rapidly, with Hoklitka having that little bit of 'luck that gave them victory. The referees during the / afternoon were Messrs Paterson, Sumner, McGrath and Stapleton. The results were:

Turbitt’s leg was injured', requiring several stitches. The Aibupy players defended fairly well, but their forwards lacked cohesion. The (Now Z'ealanders had,..two days’ sightseeing, including a visit to the immense Hume storage dam. .They also received a civic reception.
