COFFER DAM NOT WATERTIGHT.
WELLINGTON, August 16. Mr Furkert stated to-day that the coffer dam at Arapuni, which was built of clay arid similar, material, proved not to be watertight when, the pumping operations! were commenced. The pumping has ceased, pending the plugging of 'leaks.
