ARAHURA FAT STOCK SALE.
Messrs M. Houston and Co., report?-, At the usual fortnightly, sale at the. above yards yesterday, our yarding consisted of 29, fat cattle from' Messrs F. G. Williams and Sons, of Weheka. The entry comprised light ; to handy weight cattle of excellent quality; one especially well finished beast being keenly competed for, and was secured by a Hokitika butcher. There was good competition throughout and the yarding was cleared at satisfactory prices on a par with those of the previous sale. ~ ' We sold as follows:—For F. G. Williams and Sons, 2 bullocks at £6 ss, 2 at £6, 2 heifers at £5, 1 at £6 10s, 2 bullocks at £6 12s 6d, 2 heifers at £5 15s, 2 at £5 10b, 2 bullocks at £5 16s, 3 at £7, 2 cows at £4 17s 6d, 3 at £5 7s 6d, 3 bullocks at £6 ss, 3 at £7 ss.
Yesterday’s entry at the above yards . comprised 12 fat isheep, 10 lambs and 69 head of cattle, which were eubmitted to a representative attendance of Coast buyers. In the beef section there was no lack of choice from a quality point of view, the yarding being the best all round for some time. Prices however did not appreciate op recent sales, , prime heavy «, beef selling round about 20s per hundred, lighter medium quality ranging from 21s to 22s 6d, best heifer beef made to 20s per hundred, cow beef from 17s 6d to 18s. The sheep however sold well.
Jeffries and Co. record the following sales: —For H. Busch, 12 ;fatj sheep at 14s, 19 fat lambs, .shorn, at 8s 6d. For clients, 3 empty cows at £3 10s, 2at £2 10s, cow and runner £2 12s.
