SATURDAY’S GAMES

The games set down for Saturday are the opening matches of the junior knock-out, and the Newman Shield game Hokitika School v. Grey Technical. Third will .be> no senior game except Ross v. Rivals at Ross, owing to the inter-union match Westland v. Ruder at Westport. The junior games are; v. Riinu at Hokitika ; Kiwi v. Kokatahi at Kokatahi. , .• The school game is for the 'Newman .Shield and should provide a good' con-, teil't. As a result the Grey team have to drop eight players, three backs and five forwards and HokitTka drop five players, three backs and two forwards; At Westport, the return match, between West Coast and Buller will take place. The game at Greymouth resulted ■in a win for Buller by 9 to 6. With •'better ground conditions •' the match should be a very fast and open one. Buller will have the services of Holder fresh from his All Black tour, while notable absentees from the West Coast ranks yill be J. King and W. Hughes. Owidg to an injury to hishlp, received last Saturday, not having sufficiently improved, W. Hughes is standing down from the Coast team, and will he replaced by D. Diedrioh*.
