The inter-State hockey carnival was continued at the University Oval today in beautiful weather. New* Zealand defeated South Australia by 13 to nil. The latter were playing New Zealand for the first time in the hisory of the game, and were outclassed. New Zealand gave a great forward display, and the defence wa s also good. Bay, Turbitt, and Andrews revelled in goal hitting. Reid *- ft New Zealand toward, retired requiring t-wto stitches over his left eye, Wellhourne replaced him, and excelled himself on the hard ground, Munro, the captain, played full-back in the second half. Spiers, the crack hack, unprecedentedly played as centre half, hoping to score. ! Ewan and Bollard, playing half scored, indicating the weak defence, The South Australian forwards* also were inexperienced, • The game was not treated very seriously in the second half, The scorers? fp New Zealand wore Boy (5), Turbitt (3), , Andrew* (2), Reid (1), Ewan (1) and Bollard (1). A hard game is expected to-morrow for the New Zealariders against Western Australia, The New Zealand test team will be announced on Friday. The gam© will be broacast on Saturday by station 2FC Sydney, at 3.40 p.m. New South Wales defeated Victoria by three to one, after a hard fast game.
