KING’S YACHT
DEAD BEATS AT COWES
HIS MAJESTY PARTICIPATES
(British Official Wireless.)
RUGBY, July 26,
The King embarked to-day in the destroyer ’“Crusader'’ and left for where his racing yacht “Britannia’’ is taking part, in the regatta of the 'Royal Albert Yacht Chib. At Cowes, the King, wearing bright yellow oilskins, boarded bis yacht “Britannia,” and raced in the Solent against the “Candid” and_ the “Westward,” and after a ding-dong battle, the 'Royal yacht dead-heated with Mr Davis’ sohooner “Westward,” which etairted ,so badly that she had lost 339' seconds to the “Britannia” at the enu of the first round, but she recovered brilliantly. A dead heat is very rare in this long race over a forty mile course. There was a hard breeze and driving rain.
The general opinion is that the King was plucky to sail on such a' day.
