Seen to-day, Mr Forbes stated that Cabinet’s work will be well, forward for the commencement of the next session of Parliament which probably will open about the middle of September. The Departments of State had been requested to have their reports ready fo,rpresentation when Parliament opened, and he hoped the House would get down to the consideration of the estimates without loss of time, clearing .a good deal of formfi 1 business out of the way before the return to New Zealand ,

He did not anticipate that there would be a great deal of legislation on other matters, but h* indicated that the longdelayed consolidation of the Companies Act and its amendments might be attempted, though h e was not aware how far the preparation of the Bn-r Had proceeded. He said definitely that no legislation would be brought down affecting the wheat duties, which would be allowed to stand.
