ADDINGTON STOCK SALE, (Per Press Association—. Copyright.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 27. The tendency of live stock prices today was lower at Addington market. There was a larger yarding of beef, with several North Island consignments. The market was irregular, but active, In the early sales, it was in the buyers’ favour, hardening toward" the closing stages. . The North-Island cattle sold on a higher basis than the local consignments • Tfre , general, demand was considered fair. Extra heavy steers sold to £l2/2/6; heavy £9/15/to £lO/2/6; prime £B/5/- to £9/10/medium £6/5/- to £7/2/6;.. light from £4/17/6. Best heavy heifers sold to £lO/17/6; prime £7/5/- .to £7/17/6; medium £4/5/- to £5/4/6. Heavy cows sold to prime £5/5/- to £6/12/6; medium £3/12/6 to £4/17/0; light from £2. Prime vealers were again firm, There was a medium offering of fat lambs. The meat works being closed, competition was confined 10 local tradesmen. Consequently, there was a fall in values, especially fpr light sorts. Best heavy lambs sold to, 18/7; medium ,11/- to 14/-; plain 8/- to 10/-; inferior from 5/10,' There was a very. large entry of fat sheep, mostly ewes. Although the basis of values was lower, consequent on the works /Closing, the demand was consistent for better grades. The mai * ket was considered a fair one, considering the, i.'Vge offering and the absence of export buyers. Store sheep were offered in small numbers,- mostly ewes. The market was up to previous rates.’ \ There was a medium enti’y of fat pigs values being at late, rates. Porkers sold from 24/6 to 32/6; heavier 34/- to 40/6; choppers 50/- to £5; baconovs 42/6 to 54/6; heavier £3 to £3/8/-. '. ' Store pigs were’easier.
