Fire completely destroyed the residence of Mr J. Grieg, at the 12 mile on the Greymouth-Westport coastal road about midday yesterday. The house life soon demolished and Mr Grieg and family lost everything.

The death took place yesterday morning at the residence of her daughter, Mrs Robert Beilis, of, Mrs Sarah Mayo, at the age of 79 years. A native of London, the deceased lady came to New Zealand 56 years ago. She had been on the' West .Coast for forty years, the 'last twenty-five' of which she had resided in Greymouth. She had been in ill, health for the past two years. Her husband predeceased her some years ago. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. R. Beilis. (Greymouth), and Mrs W.
