The Government inspector of fire brigades lias recommended the creation of a metropolitan'-fire board for the Auckland urban area in the interests of efficiency and economy. He stated that the Central Brigade costs £21,000 And lit was possible for the metropolitan board to give better service over the whole area for Irom £26,000 to £30,000. • -■*
The inspector comments on the lack of co-operation among the various existing brigades.
