The ravages of the grass grub were discussed at a meeting of the executive of the Auckland Farmers’ Union, Mr D. B. Higgen, of Matamata stating- 'that lie knew of one case of a farm which had been carrying three dairy herds where there was now but me dairy herd, and even then 'the cattle lmd to be grazed out during the wintvr. Tn the Mmwvnru district :l()00 acres were affected. Mr W. Bovd, of Mata.ngi, said that there did not seem to be any parasite to deal with the grub, but it. was thought that starling®; in large numbers would keep it in ch^ck. '' ' I ’ " '
