THE ALL BLACKS
PRAISED IN .SYDNEY PRESS,
A UNANIMITY OF OPINION
(Australian Press Association.)
(Received this day at 10.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 25.
Commenting •on Saturday’s test, the “Labour Daily” says: The All Blacks played like a machine, and profited by the Australians’ many mistakes and weaknesses.
Th e “Herald’’’ /say-s: The New Zealand combination developed sufficiently to have taught lessons to our men. The most vital is the ilesson that the for-wards,-if they must have speed and ability to handle, must also do a share of the solid rucking''that was the finest" feature of -the All Black forwards.
■ The ‘fTelegraph,” with a streamer heading, “No Praise To High For All Blacks,” says that the' New Zealanders will take back the Bledisloe Cup and Rugby Union ashes, but mo.-e cherished, perhaps, than these, will be the honouraccorded the team which rose from obscurity to attain its goal, and which weathered the censure and reproof'that* followed quickly on its initial bow, to hear itself acclaimed; 'Standing out as a. bright attacking star among the,New Zealand hacks'in the third test was ’ ‘Baijij the left winger. At. .times he* made wou'd-be defenders look like players of fourth .rate .standard, so. completely did he bewilder them. . PRAJiSE FOR WALLACE. SYDNEY' July 25. ~ While Wallace.attributes their success to the qualities of his men, they stated that Wallace himself was responsible for the victory. ‘You. can blame everything' on to the .boss,'’ said' one player. “He is a wonderful manager and is responsible for the improvement. His great knowledge of the game he passed on. He had a remedy for every'weakness.*’ The “Herald” comments that the New Zealand Rugby Union struck a vital' tftrst blow in th© fight for the Ashe's, when it appointed the famous Wallace, master player and master as manager and 'coach of the team; which virtually asked him to restore the old standard of New Zealand rugby.. Wallace made a great success of hi;s job.
