NEW REGULATIONS pIGID RESTRICTIONS. (Per Press Association — Copyright .) WELLINGTON, July 21. Regulations as to Vne granting of licenses' for the installation, working and sale of radio apparatus, are gazetted 'tornight. Except a,* piov'ided in the International Radio Telegraph Convention, or iii its Regulations, or with the specal authority of the’ Minster,, a Radio Station shall not be used in any way to .compete vvithrthei Government communication services, and shall not transmit, °r receive, radio communications, the transmission or reception of which is calculated, in the judgment of the Minister, to cause any lobs of levenue to the Poet and Telegraph, Departmfeht, , ” ' ' Nevertheless messages of warning, having theif object the preservation of human lite } the protection of property j oh the detection of Ctinie, may bo transmitted without reference to the Minister. ' , Under the Regulations relating to broadcasting. stations, it is provided that the - licensee shall, if the Minister so directs, debar from announcing duties any person who, in the Minister’s opinion, i ( s unsuitable for such duties. " s It is also provided that a broadcasting station shall not be established in any location where, in the judgment of the Minister, undue interference with the operation of any Government station, or any other station open for 'general public correspondence, is likely to be caused, or where its establishment would be inimical to. the public iuterest. - Subject to special provisions, it is stipulated that no' form of'advertising shall be undertaken by the y licensee front any broadcasting station, .unless specially authorised by the Minister. The specified provisionsj are embodied in the following clauses: “The \ call sign of the Broadcasting shall, as a general rule, be announced every thirty minutes, birt may, if desired,, be given at''the' •commencement/ oi, each. item. The full name and address of the station may,- however,' lie announced only at the beginning and the end of the programme.' Brief descriptive remarks )relative thereto may be made at the commencement, of each item of the broadcasting station’s programme. .; ' ** •' W

The licensee shall supervise with all reasonable care, to the satisfaction of the Minister, the matter broadcast, and shall carefully select the matter to be broadcast. In order to give ef feet to the requirements of this regulation, the licensee shall at request, transmit free of charge to the Government as part of the regular programme of any broadcasting station, any announcement by the Government or by any Department.
