In These times of restricted business, it should be opportune to do more in the way of advertising the scenic attractions of Westland, and so draw more visitors to tbte Coast. Actually, this is a very favourable season of 1 the year to visit the glacier region. The, mountains are seen at their best in their winter mantle, and with the clear atmosphere prevailing, present a sight never to be' forgotten. The socp.ll’ed depression is surely not a time to go out of business. Rather should it 'be a time to extol Westland as a holiday -resort, where visitors can enjoy unique views and wonderful scenery under very comfortable living con- ■ ditions in and . about the popular resorts. There are always a number ready to travel, and with lessened means a shorter holiday nearer home should prove attractive to- .those in search of relaxation. Now tljat the year has turned and the longer days are coming, it would be a very opportune time to advertise our wares abroad. Westland has much to sell in the, way of most attractive scenery. Within- a few weeks, the holiday public will be attracted to Christchurch for the Grand National, and sucli a time would be opportune for both I scr/cen and newspaper , advertising in j the Cathedral City. Those ready for a holiday, or planning >a holiday, could have their interest engaged by bringing the attractions of Westland prominently before them. A series of pc’c-to-rial- views of screen publicity \y:ould reach a large number of people in Christchurch at ril times and particularly n'cxt month. This would be a /judicious form of advertising to reach our country first. An increased volume of" traffic assists business through various channels, and if the transport- an l accommodation interests were associated in the Venture, the individual cost w mid not bo huge, while the gains will be the greater. Westland should rot hide its beauties, but be readf to ertol them, and at the

moment, this task 'should he taken up with vigor and sustained interest and so help to reach the right quarter whence an acceptable return may be expected. ! ' : ’. ■ • : «•
