SYDNEY GIRL’S EFFORT,
(United Press Asßocintion—Sy Electric Telegraph—Copyright.)
LOS ANGELES, July 19,
Tn a private Swimming trial this afternoon, Mies Bonnie Mealing (Sydney) came within four-fifths of a second of the hundred metres back-stroke record' established by Miss Holm. At the same tim e Miss Mealing bettered her own previous record time of 1.19. (Her effort was a meritorious one, as she was not paced. Her increased speed here is apparently the result of her change from a woollen to a cotton costume, and also her new methods at the turn 'and a new start. She is now out to cut her time further.
