Sii'j—-T ‘was amazed to column snarl under the name of F. J. Bade, appearing in your columns yesterday, and jv’a's struck by the fact that though the writer was a member of the executive of the R..S.A. for ai least twelve months, lie failed to get an ans\ver to. some of the queries'that have 'been apparently worrying him, and it was oiily, after lie had been turned down by the annual meeting for a seat oil the new executive that lie comes with his outburst of righteousness. 1 am sorry that the name ot a deceased soldier was brought forward, especially as the writer 'is in g position to know that at the time 'tbe order to/ the bicycle was given, it was; ordered personally through him,' then an employee of the firm which ultimately supplied it several months afterwards, \Vhen the prize had . been 1 duly competed for and won. It is " ! hot

my intention to write much in ‘ regard to the personal charges made''ai.gain,st Messrs Evans and Paterson. : That isi a matter for the community' 'at ; largb to consider and decide on. Their work in - connection with Patriotic ■ work' ! and that of the Returned Soldiers Association is such that it needs no ‘comment. Everybody who has resided in the town knows how the present |Et,S.A. hall' and the Association has been‘built up and by whom, and there; is no need for further comment. Apparently Mr Bade was looking for some "plums” from the. R.S.A. tree, which did not eventuate, ahd his outburst lias been the result of his brooding over hi’s disappointment. The appeal “made to members to enrol is a good one, not for the purpose of aiding the complainant, ’ but for the purpose of giving support to the organisation which . lias a' very worthy objective;, and which, in' past'years, even with the small membership has proved of great advantage to returned soldiers who have been in need of assistance. I am, I etc. ■ .. v, ;
