MINISTERIAL VISIT
TRIP LN'TO NORTH AUSTRALIA. SOME CRITICISM UPON RETURN. (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, July 18. Mr Parkhili, Federal Minister of the interior, has returned from a visit to the Northern Territory. It is understood the result of his observations will be embodied in a report to the Federal Government, and will probably include a. strong criticism of some of the Terri, tory settlers, who are holding huge areas ' oi ! land, which ha s been 'allowed to re-1 main undeveloped. He says other settiers working on smaller holdings should be assisted to some extent, and concessions in the matter of land tenure and other conditions would encourage the investment of capital to render the Territory more valuable to the Commonwealth. The racial problems, especially 'the half-caste, natives, w-U need definite treatment. Ml’ iParlchill says he finds that there is considerable local criticism. of the •work of the Missions, which, it is complained, do not" train the natives ito be of any real use for ’ station work.
