■ The entries for the Hokitika Poultry Show to be helcf on Friday and Saturday of next -week are of a very -satisfactory nature from Coast centres. The, entries from Christchurch have been received by the secrotary of Christchurch Club and are also very satisfactory. They will come to hand by Tuesdaym’ght-s mail Late entries will be received up to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. The new section of -arts and crafts was well supported and will provide an interesting display.
, The ever present danger which may result from the glaring headhghts of motor-cars has led the.traffic authorities to draw the attention of owners to the by-law which- states that lights on motor-ears or motor-cycles must not rise above a line 3ft. Sins. off the ground at a- distance of 75ft. Dazzling lights causing annoyance on the highway or elsewhere is regarded as a-n offence.
The Hokitika Railway Station is falling into -line with many other stations throughout New Zealand, in the adoption of a beautifying, as well ns a progressive scheme-, namely, the laying out "of a- railway garden reserve. The benefit herein has keen evidenced in other centra where the sombre appearance of the stations and yards are relieved by the beauty and attraction of tliese garde’’-s. The work in Hokitika will be undertaken by the unemployed at the approach to the station from -Stafford And AVAd Streets. In most .inst o nceis the shrubs, flowers and plants have been, donated from nrivate gardens, and the pußhc of Hokitika, are ’nvit d to assist with the scheme by’ forwarding their contributions to the Stationniaster.
