ROBBERS TO BE THRASHED. (Australian Press Association.) MELBOURNE, July 15. Leslie Pallamount-aigne, aged !21 years, and Ernest Pettigrew, aged 20 years; were convicted of armed robbery, and \ wore sentenced to seven "years’ imprisonment, each also to receive a private whipping ot fifteen strokes. FEDERAL CENSUS. CANBERRA, July 16. The ‘Commonwealth Government has decided to take a census of Australia at the end of next June. The cost will bp about £500.009 and will give employment to ten thousand cohectors.
