LONDON, July 12, Three hundred love lettejs and an engagement ring were exhibited at the Skibbereen Circuit Court, in County Cork, Ireland, at the. hearing of an action in which Mollig Minihan, of jSmorane claimed £3OO for breach of promise of marriage' from John j Patrick Walsh, farmer, of Derryleigli. 1 Tno parties are now about 36 yean of age, and the promise of marriage was alleged to have been made when they were 21 years old. Miss Miniban gave ' evidence that Walsh was prepared to marry her in 1921, but his mother objected to tile marriage. He Went to America 'later that, year because he was disappointed at not receiving the firm on hie father’s death. He persuaded her ti. cancel an arrangement Whereby she was to enter the • nursing profession, and a month before he left for Ameri ca he gave her an engagement . ring. He corresponded with her until '1926, and returned to Ireland in 1929. Defending counsel, contended that the action was barred by the' Statute of Limitations, but counsel for Mifc Minihan submitted that the last letter received from Walsh was in February, 1926, and the civil bill 'had been irsued in February, 1 1932, just before the six years- had expired. The Judge held that Miss Minihdn was entitled to succeed, and that there was an arrangement as to marriage between the parties. '• Accordingly he gave judgment for £2O and costs, Remarking that the girl had not lost much.'
