THEFT AND FRAUD.
SIX MONTHS’ IMPRISONMENT.

WELLINGTON, July 13
A sentence of six months’ imprisonment was imposed on David Carter, 55, who pleaded guilty yesterday to two charges of obtaining £4 by false, pretences, the theft of a parrot, and a breach of his release'on probation. He was. stated to be an habitual Criminal, who was released on April 14th, 1930, and reported regularly until February of this year. Last ’March he sold a parrot to one Miller} anu in May, visited Miller’s house and stole the parrot. He obtained £1 at Lower Hutt on the representation that he had a wireless set for sale, and £3 at Upper Hutt as a deposit on two horses he said he had bought. He had been going round imposing on people, particulary taxi drivers.
