LOAN FOR AUSTRIA
To Pay foreign creditors (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 14. ’ Major Elliot, Financial Secretary to the Treasury in the House, of Commons, sgid that a delegation of the. /League' of Nations Financial Commit-, the and the Government experts had held further meetings during the session of the Lausanne Conference, and had completed their work. They, hadrecommended that the British, French, Italian and certain other Governments should guarantee, loans to Austria to 1 -at total of approximately nine million ppunds. . . • The guarantee of the British Government, he said, would he limited to an issue on the London. market of the equivalent of one hundred million Austrian gold shillings. The proceeds of; this loan would be used to repay an advance that was made by, v the Bank of England last year in anticipation of the issue of a [loan by Austria. The question would be .dealt with/by. the Council pf itlig League' of Natidn|i. within the next day or two.
