A triple drowning tragedy, the victims being Mrs Ivy Russell, 27, and two children at Sunshinej on June llyi was investigated by the City Coroner, who committed the husband, James Russell, 27, a mechanic, for Inal, charged with murdering them. The police gave evidence that Rus : .sell was arrested after the tragedy on. a charge 6t'bigamy. He made a statement, saying he wanted his secop.fi wife who was unaware that he \va» already married, to come home and five with his married sister, meaning his real wife. He also said: “I suppose I’ll get my neck stretched for this.” Constable Bolton said: “Well you realty did' push your wife and children into the swimming pool.” * Russeil replied: “No, but I suppose I will get the blame, 1 as my wife’s father has got no time for me.” He made, another statement that his wife who threatened suicide •previously, lbwed the perambulator to run down hill with the children in it to the pooh iind she jumped in after; all being drbwned.
