FERGUS HUME.. (United Press Association—By Electric ! Telegraph—Copyright.) - , (Received this day at 8 a.in.; LONDON, July 13. The death is announced of Fergus Hume, the well-known author. Mr Hume, who I was the second son of Mr James Hume, of Dunedin, was born in England on July Bth, 1850. He was educated, at the Otago Boys’ High School and Otago University, and admitted as a barrister and solicitor ot the Supreme Court of New Zeaalnd. He left Dunedin for Australia, and after residing for three years in Melbourne proceeded to England, where lie had since lived, lie was the author, of a number, of novels, the best known being “The Mystery of a Hansom Cab.” '■■■;■ , .
