WALTHAM MAN’S LUCK. CHRISTCHURCH, July 12. A Christchurch man, living at -Walpole Street, Waltham, was advised yesterday that lie had won £SOOO in Tattersall’s Sweep. Although the fortunate ticket-holder refused to allow his name, to be made known when he was interviewed, he gave somla particulars of the purchase of the ticket. He had been playing bridge some weeks ago, and after a run of unsuccessful nights had won 7s 9d. With this money he secured the ticket which has won him this large sum. He stated that he had been taking tickets in the sweep since its . inception. It was a strange thing, lie said, that his win should come just a fortnight after he had retired after being connected for 51 years with the same firm.
