POULTRY SHOW
EXHIBITION AT HOKITIKA. On July 29th and 30th the Hokitika Poultry iShow . will conduct its annual exhibition in the Soldiers’ Hall. Prospects for oh is. function are always 'bright, but this year, especially in view of. the times, th.re is every encouragement to .the Society to look forward to a most 'successful show. Considerable outside interest is be.mg taken in the .schedule, and already a. large number of entires have been received, the closing date, being next Saturday. The committee have arrangements well in hand, and it is now for the public to contribute i*s 'support in the way of patronage. Tibs ihas been forthcoming in the past, «nd it is anticipated thTit there will again be good attendances this year,, which will be 'warranted by th e high standard of exhibits being catered for”. Advice from Christchurch states that quite a number of entries are 'forthcoming from tlhe other .ride, while the excursion train from there to Hokitika will bring a large influx of visitors, ■ Several classes have been added to th e utility class on the schedule, to be known as Langshans 231 a, 232 a, 233 a, •234 a, Buff Rocks 231 b, 232 b, 233 b and •234 b.
Special prizes have been donated to the. following ' classed :—Best old English bantam, best seabright, gold or silver. .The entry ~fee-■•for. cats and rabbits Have been fixed at Is for members and Is 64 for non-members. Exhibitors must provide their own cushions for catn, pens being provided, and they must be at the hall .by 1 p.m. on the Saturday. Rabbits are also requested to be benched by 1 p.m. on the Saturday.
