Proposals for a new award in the iron :• industry, except for the threw skilDud brancte—Engineers, boilermakers and iron and brass moulders, have been filed by the employers. They propose a wage of l/6sd per hour against l/10-J-d at present a,nd also ask authority to employ hoys, without : apprentice ship at certain classes of. york. The-Wages proposals a r e—First.yjejjr los weekly; second 22s 6d, th&cOOe, fourth 37s 6d, fifth mi ! ■ 8 Another proposed new clause would provide.! for employment of females at ‘light work, beginning at 5s per week with; annuaf increments till 30is per week is reached. It .is proposed, that the number of girls and hoys employed should not he limited. Piecework or premium bond system is also proposed.
I The Conciliation Council will hear the dispute at Auckland on August .-llth.
