ANNUAL CONFERENCE HELD. YEAR’S ACTIVITIES REVIEWED. WELLINGTON, July 12. : The ,'N.Z. Racing Conference was helcUto-day. • ■ ,f,_T]ie- Chairman of the Stipendiary Stewards, Air A. P. Wilson, reported that, - the management and control of race; meetings during the last season hadkibieen quite satisfactory, and, if continued on the same lines left little wanting. Several dubs were i till lax regarding tli© advertised closing times. Punctuality in this respect might be insisted on. There were fewer accidents in flat races during the season, continued Air Wilson, but a number of (CftseiLoLinterference in running, mostly .through careless riding - had been reported, and where .the rider was •found,;guilty the Judical Committees had, in their opinion, dealt too leniently with-, the delinquent. Tho-Peport of the Chief Racecourse Inspector, Air A. Ward, records the fact, that during the year 238 persons were warned off this race and trotting courses, as against 205 for 1930-31. : Applications from F. Foster and H. , Goldfinch to have the balance (three months) of the’r terms of suspension removed were refused.

Dr. 0. C. Alurphv was granted his request for the removal of the: balance, (18 months) of the term of his disqualification.

Air F. AlcGrath (Sydney) wjjs grmt:ed the removal of the disqualification on the ge-ldirg Cherry Ripe, whom he took over from Dr. Alurphv. -Otago Hunt Club was ,granted permission to include two trotting events on its next annual programme.

The present interpretation of “Highweight Handicap” wars struck out, and the following new interpretation was submitted: “Highwe-icht Ha^d^an means any,handicap (whether called a highweight handicap or not) in which tlie minimum weight to he allotted any horse by. the handicapper (whether pursuant.,to these Rules or the conditions of t-li.e, race) is not less than eight stone.”-.

A-mot'on by the Auckland District Clubs: that the marbles for the post positions should in future be drawn by an?.'appointed steward, against the hitherto' practice of the jockeys drawing their own marbles, was lost. The Southland Racing Club’s remit concerning “jostle” or “cress” was carried.

The amendment is one providing for dealing with a horse or rider in any way 'interfering with another horse or with tine rider of another horse in a race, unless it is proved that such jos'ETc or interference 1 was caused by the'fault of some other bores or rider, or that the lionse or r'der jostled or interfered with was partly in fault. Taranaki Jock! y Club’s remit to provide fob three dividends was amend <l. The’ amendment provided that the dividend computation by the clubs shall be 'in accordance with the system authorised by the Executive Committee, which may be a.s at present, or on tine lines’ 'Of the Taranaki motion. The amendment was carried.

On the motion of tlilc Southland Racing Chib the accident f n for the ensuing season was reduced from 30s to £l.
