Jansen, an engineer on the American motorship, Sawokla, which anived hqre, described the attempt by Sir Hubert, Wilkins to reach the North Pole in the , submarine, Nautilus as the “sorriest mess” lie had ever been in. Jansen was second engineer on the Nautilus.
