i , : MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. ;• ’ Tire monthly meeting of the executive of the Hokitika branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Associaton was held last evening when there were present Messrs A. C.- Armstrong (President), R. Patei'son (secretary) ; AV. E. Brown, T. 'Stuart, J. L. Menzies,. ;T. Lynch, G. A. King, G. Gilchrist, El. Fade, C. Hart. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs’ T. Cooper and C. Bleach. V '' .. '. ’'■ 1 - The minutes of the previous meeting were read ard confirmed. From Messrs McMillan and Adamson, asking to be relieved of contract .re hiring of Hall for Saturday ,night dances. —Received and request granted
From the Secretary, R.S.A., Wellington, acknowledging the letter of sympathy in connection with the recent •; loss by fire.—Received. From the Ross sub-branch, requesting a gfant fromi the Canteen Flmds allocation for the relief of unemployment.—Received and request granted. ;A sum of £lO being donated. In this connection it was decided to request (headquarters to increase the allocaton of the Hokitika branch paying to the increase in* membership from the Ross sub-branch. .jpj .•
An application for assistance was referred to the president and with power to act, but such assistance not to be. more than the usual amount granted, to ex-cervicymen by the subsidy scheme
.. An account was received from the •Australasian Performing Right Association for the current year. Aft-r discussion it was decided that it be received. *' ■
: Several amounts were passed for payment and tbii Committee then went into arrangement' for the annual reunion. The iKecr°tary reported that, ■while at the Cbnf venae, he had interviewed Mr Harrison, the genera] secretary, who promised to be present at the- re-union.
