It is with deep regret that we ..record the death of Mrs J, B. Ward, which took place this morning.. ..The deceased wa* a native of Hokitika',. She was the youngest daughter of Mr, VV. A. Thompson of Weld Street, and had resided in the town • eince childhood endearing herself to a wide circle of friends. She took an active part in church affairs and had been; u, member of All Saints choir over a long period of years, For many years past she had been in poor' health and over a year ago had a severe illnesi; from which ulie had only partly recovered. Her death came somc./h t unexpectedly, and caused a shock to her many friends. Deceased leaves a husband, a father, and one sister, Miss i l . Thompson. To them will be extended the deep sympathy of a wide circle' of friends in the bereavement that has overtaken them.

At the Magistrate’s Court this morning before Mr A. E. Benjamin J.P., the police charged Rodger David Wil-liams-and Thomas Alex ; Jones with breaking and entering the store of Lawerence Gooch on May 29th, and stealing therefrom tobacco, cigarettes and several pairs of boots of a value of £2O. Sergt. King in asking for a remand stated the accused had been arrested on Saturday afternoon, and a quantity of the missing goods had been secured,, but there was a considerable quantity yet missing, and they wanted to make further enquiries.
