During th e week-end, ,the Bombay riot 'situation became .wqrSQ&’ and the Irish Fusiliers were ' requisitioned to aid the police in separating fanatical mobs of Moslems and Hindus engaging in street battles.. A Hindu temple was looted and set on fire .by Moslems resulting in renewed, bitter fighting. Ihe rioters only dispersed after repeated police charges. The police in the .alter, iiohn fired on a Hindu mob iattacking a mosque., killing three and wounding many.
