DEEP-SEA FISHING
LADY YULE’S CRITICISM. LONDON, Juue 30. ' Lady Yule and lier daughter have returned to England after theif trip to the Dominion. They left their yacht in America, and came on by passenger liner.’ >' Although Lady Yule had a thoroughly enjoyable trip, she has some criticism to make regarding the arrangements for deep-sea fishing at Russe-l. .'lt'’’will be remembered that she left Russell and went on to Whangaroa. Here she says, she found better facilities for deep-sea fishing in every wav. and those responsible fo-r arrangements really tried to make things pleasant. She speaks very highly of the reception she had a-t Whangaroa. - Lady Yule maintains that the information she obtained in London was that' the best time -for fishing was in January and February. She arrived in the middle of January, arid found outthat the best time for deep-sea fishing was at the-end of February and early in March. Although America is notoriously expensive, she found that the Russelprices compared unfavourably witAmarica. At the American fishing grounds there is a propet club-house, and a list gives the exact prices fbr various srevices and the hire cf different launchesi Tn New' ' Zealand nothing like, that -seems to I he attempted. Lady Yule also r complains that the Tourist Department wanted to charge her £42 a week for a mot r c-cni\ In America she hired a fi v st-olnss ci" cylinder limousine at the cost of £25 a week. / • “New Zealand is a country of wonderful possihilitites for the tourist.” she said, “hut nobody seems to bother •'ery much.”
