Probation for two years was extended to Joseph Patrick -Kelly, shop assistant, aged 20, who appeared for sentence in the Polic e Court on a charge of stealing-an overcoat and watch of a v°lue of £5. the property of Harold Quill, Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., said the report of the probation officer at Greymouth was not too satisfactory. An inquest into the circumstances stu'voundine the death of Robert Henry Morgan, who was found hanging at Gilchriut’s butcher’s shop by an employee named Norman Stanley Paisley at 7 a.m. to-day was conducted before the Con-oner, Mr A. T/.- Gee. The vp>--dict was that death had been caused by deceased hanging himself whilst in a,fit of demression. The Coroner added -ft rider that it was to be regretted that Paisley had not immediately cut tilie tody down, as the time was so short between deceased’s leaving home and the finding of the body that there was a poss/bi'ity of some spark of life still remaining when. Paisley found the body.
