ECONOMY REPORT
EXPECTED SOON WILL COVER VERY WIDE FIELD (Per Press Association — Copyright .) WELLINGTON, Juy 1. \ ■lt is understood that the National Expenditure Commission set up -by the Government to review the public exponditure and make economy recommeiidat bus, has finished its work, but the Prime Minister stated this afternoon that 'tile report had not yet been received by‘the Government. An extended period was [allowed the Commis-. sion for finishing) Ito report. This, expired last night, and it is expected that the document will be in the Prime Minister’s hands very shortly. The rerort will rover a much wider field than the interim report furnished by the Commission during the recent session of Parliament, tor it will em- • brace the result of inquiries into the financial position of the bulk of the departments-of state, whereas the interim report covered only one or two departments, and the general accounts. Mr Forbes was unable to indicate what procedure would be followed when the report came to hand. He S3, bl that it would be considered by Cabinet before it was given :publicity, and possibly it might be deferred for presentation to Parliament before 'it reached that stage. Much would depend on fhe nature of the reeommenda* tions.
