The shortage of coal in Taranaki as the '-'result of the strike has become acute.-; ■ The merchants’ bunkers were practically exhausted to-day. . The* Taranaki mines are unable to supply: sufficient coal. Even if the Northern mines resume on Monday it will he at least a week before relief comes.
