SMASH AND GRAB
A WOMAN CHARGED. LONDON, June 29. A professional ctancer, Dolly Bak-er, (27),' who was stated by the police to have admitted having been concerned in several smash, and grab raids, was charged at Brighton yesterday, in company with John Allan Cross (39), witli stealing a woman’s coat. A detective said the woman had been three times bound over and seven times sent to prison for theft, false pretences, housebreaking, shoplifting, etc. Grass, a native of Tasmania, Had been in prison 16 times- for theft', housebreaking, fraud and other offences. The couple, he said, had been living together, and they came to Brighton last Thursday. Baker: I should 'like to say that any smash and grab raids I have been in I have been puni-shed for. Both defendants were sentenced to six months’ hard labour.
