New Zealand manufacturees are being invited to hel.p in the great national cause of saving the future citizens of New Zealand by providing as much, work and training as possible for the 20, GOO youths now unemployed. It is suggested in the latest issue'hi’ tiie “New Zealand National Review” tout the matter might he immediately taken up by caking general meetings of manufacturers in the various centre®, and seeking the co-operation of the industrial unions, in Australia the suggestion has been, made that I toys might be taken on as “learners”, in different industries, and how that the difficulties of apprenticeship articles have been provided for here, it may be possible to find further openings for boys who could he usefully employed and taught without the hampering restrictions which, surrounded full apprenticeship, ' “Even as only an emergency provision something may be done in this direction, and union officials are not likely to raise undue obstacles jn the path of any reasonable action,” adds the article.
