DUTY ON WHEAT
CRITICISM OF THE GOVERNMENT. AUCKLAND, June 30 / The Chamber of . Commerce passed a resolution declaring'that the rate of duty on wheat,, which is being imported from Australia, should be the same, of the place whence it is imported, or the purpose for which it is required. . , Strong comment as passed on the act : on of the Government in “virtually aiding and abetting a monopoly,” and imposing purely revenue duty on wheat at such a time as this. It was also stated* that the poultry industry was being crushed at the dictates of the southern millers.
