CHRISTCHURCH, June 30

As a sequel to a disturbance outside Lancaster Park on May 7th, during the tramway strike, James Duncan Bourke 37, a painter, was charged to-day with assaulting Henry Victor Laing, a volunteer conductor, and causing his death, thereby committing manslaughter. He was remanded till July 7th. Bail was allowed.

The police said Laing received a blow and later died at the hospital. It was alleged that accused struck the blow.
