LONDON, May 20

Lord Badcn-Powoll gave a luncheon parry at lii.s country home, Pax Hill, Hampshire, oil May 17th to celebrate the 32nd anniversary of the rebel of Mafeking. Five well-known military men who were with him during the siege, and who attended the anniversary, were: Brigadier-General Ryan, Lieut.-Colonel Lord Charles Bentinek, Sir Hubert Swinburne, Major Holmden, and Colonel Greener.

The twenty-two giicmts included Princess Alice Counters of Atlilone Mayor-General Lord Atlilone, and Lady Baden-Powcll. Every man present had served either in the relief or defence of .Mafeking.- Owing to illness, Lord Plum.r, who headed the relief force, was unable to attend. During the luncheon a mernago arrived from the Mayor of .Mafeking. Interesting trophies on the table included a gold shield presented bv ’Natal- ’.a silver casket given by Cape Town and a biscuit made of horses' hoofrs, which formed partbpf the daily ration during the seige. ■ , 'The''menus, designed hv-' Lord Bad-en'-Powell, were; in' the -form of poster-; held by toiisol-headed newsboys, and bore the words: “Mal'ekiilg R. lieved —Stop Press XewK.” "
