MURDER AT WHANGAREI

WHANGAREI, June 28

The ease in which Heta Fred Gardner was charged with the murder of George Crewe, was concluded to-day. A pathologist at the Auckland Hospital stated that he had found bloodstains on tlie clothing in Gardner’s possession.

Detectjve-Sergea’iit Robertson detailed the steps taken to arrest and interview the accused, who made a statement. The production of this statement was objected to by counsel for accused who reserved his defence. Accused was committed to the Supreme Court a.t Auckland for trial.
