THIEVES ACTIVE IN CHRISTCHURCH.

CHRISTCHURCH, June 28
Dai-ir-- thieves last night entered the premises of Dann Brothers, plumber - , in Oxford Terrace, by forcing a -window .it the back, although it was barred, and stole a safe containing books and papers, and 33s in cash.
The firm had banked earlier in the day. The -safe was taken through he back door. It is believed that they are the same thieves who have been responsible for the recent series of burglaries.

GREYMOUTH WIDOW’S LOSS
GR FALMOUTH, June 28. Returning home lust evening, Mrs Beckman, a widow, residing at B.iikefcown discovered the loss of her ptir.-e containing £124 in notes, which she. had ijeft on a nail behind the dressing table. The back door had been forced, but the thief or thieves mi'-sed two hadf sovereigns in a box on the table.

. JEWELLERY THIEVES FOILED. WELLINGTON, June 27. A half-ton truck, two ease: filled with jewellery, a safe moved m to position ready to be taken away and broker, windows, were the main things left behind when two burglars at Lauehlan’s Ltd., Countenay Price, took fright, last night, and h:\sti.y left the premise'*.
