Women's single'*, fifth round.—Mrs Helen Wills Moody beat Miss Round '6_o, 6—l. Superior co-operation and better headwork enabled the Japanese pair to defeat Crawford and yopman after a two and a. half hours’ battle. The Australians frittered away their opportunity when 'they led 5—4 on the last set, and lost two match points. They again led 6—5 but the Japanese net rushing tactics forced their opponents into errors.
