HEAVY STORMS
IN AUSTRALIA GREAT DAMAGE DONE. (Australian Press Association.) (Received this day at 10.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, June 25. Fierce westerly gales, which were experienced over a wide area, covering Tasmania, Victoria and the coastal highland areas of New .South Wales, caused considerable damage in a number of places oil the south coast. Dozens of houses and garages were unroofed, and plate glass windows blown in. Terrific: gusts blew down the wall of the Primary Distributing Society’s store, and destroyed the aerial masts at Woollongong broadcasting station, 2W.L. The wake of the raging wind was strewn with wreckage of every description. Particularly extensive damage was done in the farming districts. Hundreds of fences and miscellaneous articles were scattered, willy nilly. A man was blown from a ladder and*-injured. In a special warning to shipping, the Weather Bureau forecasts strong gales iiiitl rough seas over the Tasman Sea.
